About Bert
I am Bert Huysmans, a software developer from Schoten, Belgium. From Monday to Thursday I build software and CI/CD pipelines at SD Worx. Every Friday is set aside for IT aan Huys, through which I help individuals and businesses in the region.
That double perspective is exactly what you get out of it. The same way of working I use on large software projects, understand first and only then build, applies just as well to a frozen laptop or a script that saves you an hour every week.
I am passionate about software development, keep learning continuously and enjoy sharing that knowledge. So I always explain what I am doing and why, leaving you able to carry on yourself next time.
"Simplicity is the soul of efficiency" is not just a quote on this site. The simplest solution that works is almost always the best one, so you will not get a heavyweight tool where a small script will do.
Honest about the approach
IT aan Huys is a side business alongside a full-time job. Friday is the fixed day for on-site work, and an evening or a weekend works just as well, which many people find more convenient than a working day. Email is usually answered the same day.
